Continence

The Continence Service supports people experiencing bladder or bowel problems. The service provides assessment, treatment, advice and practical support to help improve symptoms, maintain dignity and improve quality of life.

About the team

The service is delivered by specialist continence nurses with expertise in bladder and bowel health and operates Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm excluding Bank Holidays. They provide personalised assessments and treatment plans, helping people understand the causes of their symptoms and identify the most appropriate treatment and management options.

Who this service is for

We can usually help if:

  • You are experiencing bladder problems
  • You are experiencing bowel problems

We may not be the right service if:

  • You have a health need that is not believed to be either bladder or bowel related

This service accepts referrals from professionals, including GPs, only. If you're unsure who can refer you, contact us for advice.

Will I be provided with continence products?
Following assessment, suitable continence products or aids may be recommended and supplied where clinically appropriate.
Can I be seen at home?
Yes. Appointments take place in a clinic or at home depending on your needs and circumstances.
