Phlebotomy

The Phlebotomy Service provides blood tests requested by healthcare professionals. Blood tests play an important role in diagnosing conditions, monitoring treatment and helping your healthcare team understand more about your health.

About the team

The service is delivered by trained phlebotomists who specialise in taking blood samples safely and efficiently. Clinics are available at community hospital sites, and home visits are arranged for housebound patients.

The operation hours for the service are, in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley (DGS), walk in clinics are provided at Gravesham Community Hospital, alongside home visits for housebound patients, operating Monday to Friday from 8:15am to 4:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. In Swale, a clinic based service is delivered at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital, operating Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 1:30pm, alongside home visits for housebound patients.

  • You have a valid blood test request form from an authorised healthcare professional

We may not be the right service if:

  • You have children under 4 years of age
  • You don't have a completed blood request form

This service accepts referrals from professionals, including GPs, only. If you're unsure who can refer you, contact us for advice.

Questions and answers

Do I need an appointment?
Some clinics operate as walk-in services. Please check local arrangements before attending. You must bring your completed blood request form.
Can I have a blood test without a request form?
No. A blood test request form completed by an authorised healthcare professional is required before a blood sample can be taken.
